COVID-19 Courage Awards
The American Academy of Nursing is pleased to announce the launch of the COVID-19 Courage Awards to honor the incredible contributions nurses have made to save lives, advance health equity, and protect communities during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. These awards, made possible through the generous support of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), include $ 8,000 in funding for professional development to be given to a nurse, at any stage of their career, in each of four categories:Policy, Leadership, Innovation, and Science.

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners

AANP National Survey Reveals Progress, Challenges as Nurse Practitioners (NPs) Combat COVID-19
The findings of a second, nationwide trend survey of NPs assessing COVID-19’s impacts on NP professional practice demonstrate both significant progress and lingering challenges as health care providers work to stem the tide of the pandemic in communities nationwide. More than 80% of the profession reports their practices are better prepared to manage COVID-19 patients than at the start of the pandemic, with 35% indicating they are ready for a surge in COVID-19 cases.

National Association of Neonatal Nurses
NANN is a community of registered nursing professionals at all stages of their careers who care for newborn infants born with a variety of health challenges, including prematurity, birth defects, infection, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems. Our Every Day is Their Once in a Lifetime
“Our every day is their once in a lifetime,” one of my previous directors used to say. I learned this phrase while working as a certified nurse aide in labor and delivery. Ten years later, it still resonates with me as a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurse and student neonatal nurse practitioner. The phrase is applicable to the birth experience and the delivery of well newborns, but it especially applies to our work in the NICU. Nurses seek OSHA sanctions on HCA
National Nurses United (NNU) today called on the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) to inspect all HCA-owned-and-operated hospitals and issue citations against the hospital giant for “willful violation” of workplace safety hazards, which NNU warns “could reasonably be expected to cause death or serious physical harm.” Read the full story here.
