Get the Medications Right: Innovations in Team-Based Care
February 6 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am
When: Thursday, February 6, 2020 8:30 – 10:30 am ET
Where: Bipartisan Policy Center
Suboptimal medication use — prescription drugs that make people sicker, are wrong or are not taken as intended—costs 275,000 lives and $528 Billion each year. With medications involved in 80% of all treatments and 10,000+ medications to choose from, the GTMRx Institute calls this the single most urgent, pressing opportunity to save both lives and money. On February 6, GTMRx and the Bipartisan Policy Center will co-host an event via live broadcast to talk about why this matters and what we can do to optimize medication use. Registration is free.
Why this? Why now?
The goal of the GTMRx Institute is to ensure appropriate and personalized use of medication and gene therapies by advancing to a scientific, evidence-based and cost-effective decision-making process and a team-based, systematic approach to medication use. We believe this will offer consumers a personalized approach to medication use. For those who pay for care, it will create a reduction in total cost of care—saving lives and saving money.
Critical to this goal is their work sponsoring and supporting multi-stakeholder activities that will encourage practice transformation, create pathways for dissemination of evidence and innovation and encourage payment and policy reform.
At their February summit they will discuss how they can harness and scale what they know works from the decades of work happening across health care to integrate medication experts into the care team and to facilitate “whole-person” medication use. They will examine what they can do to fix the trial-and-error approach to medication use that’s costing 275,000 people their lives and $528 billion in waste that we all pay for.
Registration is open to all who are working to Get the Medications Right. When you register, you can choose to attend in-person or to watch the live-stream.
