CMS User Guide for Beginners

CMS Issues Intro Guide on EHR Incentive Program

What do you do if you have literally thousands of web pages and download documents organized on a site with three levels of navigation menus and no one can find what they are looking for? Well if you are CMS, you write a user manual and direct your readers to where they should look on the site. The newest of those manuals is, An Introduction to the Medicare EHR Incentive Program for Eligible Professionals. They are calling it a comprehensive tool to “help guide EPs through all of the phases of the Medicare EHR Incentive Program, from eligibility and registration to attestation and payment.”

The 82 page guide is organized in five steps through the program; the basics, how to participate, meaningful use, attestation, and a resource library. It is in a PDF format and is interactive for users to click through on outside links as well as moving through and around the guide. The page footers have hot spots of the five chapters to quickly navigate and change pages. It is loaded with screen shots and charts to further explain instructions and concepts.

The guide is a good reference for the true beginner. Now how exactly do you find this on the website? Check out the Educational Materials on the EHR Incentive Programs site for more resources and tools.
