CMS Launches eHealth Site Consolidating Health IT Programs

CMS Launches eHealth Website

eHealth Website Consolidates Reporting Requirements for Health IT Initiatives

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have launched a new website that consolidates reporting requirements for various health IT initiatives and incentive programs. The eHealth Initiative will integrate the CMS program for:

  • Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs
  • Quality Measurement programs including Physician Quality Report System (PQRS) and  Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (Hospital IQR)
  • e-Prescribing Program
  • Administrative simplification including ICD-10, health plan identifier, electronic funds transfer and electronic remittance advice

According to a CMS blog post by Robert Tagalicod, Director, Office of E-Health Standards and Services, “each program is part of an overarching eHealth infrastructure that will transform our health care system by capturing and tracking health information electronically. CMS is committed to helping health care providers deliver better patient care by simplifying the use of electronic standards and encouraging the adoption of health information technology.”
